If Trump is elected, it will be a “Bloodbath”

Grand Rapids – Former President Donald Trump escalated his rhetoric on Tuesday, April 2, warning that if he’s not re-elected, it would mean “our country will cease to exist” However, while Trump paints a dire picture of the future, the true peril lies not in what happens if he’s not re-elected, but in the profound consequences of his proposed policies if he were to be elected again. What will cease to exist are our freedoms.

Amidst his grandstanding, Trump’s proposed policies would strip away fundamental rights and freedoms, plunging the nation into a dystopian reality. From reproductive rights to LGBTQ+ rights, from the judiciary to immigration, the stakes could not be higher.

Trump’s agenda threatens to unravel decades of progress on reproductive rights. His pledges to eliminate abortion, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and contraception would not only infringe upon bodily autonomy but also result in a government-sanctioned intrusion into the most intimate decisions of individuals’ lives. The nullification of the Supreme Court, with Trump’s refusal to enforce laws, would render the highest judicial body toothless, undermining the very foundation of checks and balances in the nation.

A Trump-controlled Department of Justice would spell disaster for dissenting voices, effectively operating as a secret police force to quash any opposition to the administration. LGBTQ+ rights, hard-won through years of activism and advocacy, would be rolled back, relegating millions to second-class citizenship. Trump’s callous rhetoric towards immigrants, coupled with policies resulting in concentration camps, strikes at the core of our humanity and values.

Furthermore, Trump’s agenda threatens the very fabric of social safety nets. Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, essential lifelines for millions of Americans, would be on the chopping block. A closed border policy would effectively end all immigration, perpetuating xenophobia and isolating the nation from the global community.

Perhaps most alarming is the specter of an ultimate autocratic theocracy, molded in Trump’s image. Such a scenario would erode the principles of democracy and freedom upon which the nation was founded, replacing them with a regime characterized by authoritarianism and religious zealotry.

As the specter of Trump’s re-election looms, the choice before us is stark: between democracy and tyranny, between freedom and oppression. We must rise to defend the values that define us as a nation, to safeguard the rights and freedoms that so many have fought and sacrificed to uphold.

In this critical moment, let us draw a clear contrast to Trump’s fearmongering. Let us reject the notion that the end of our country lies in his defeat. Instead, let us recognize that the true threat to our nation’s future lies in the erosion of our freedoms and democratic principles under another Trump presidency.

The stakes could not be higher, and the time to act is now. We must unite in a resounding call to action. Let us vote for democracy, for freedom, for a future where all are equal under the law. The survival of our country and our freedoms depends on it. If Donald Trump is elected, it will be a “Bloodbath” for our country.
